Community-based Organizations (CBOs)
When you took the TRUST test, so you could fly your drone without getting a Part 107 Pilot Certificate, you learned that one of the things you are required to do when flying recreationally is to "Follow the safety guidelines of a Community-bassed Organization (CBO)". The FAA does a pretty good job of defining what a Community-based organization is and how an organization can become a CBO here.
Currently, the FAA-recognized CBOs are:
Academy of Model Aeronautics Safety Program
Academy of Model Aeronautics Safety Program
AMA Flying club/Flying fields near Las Vegas
AMA IN ACTION Advocating for Members
First Person View Freedom Coalition Safety Guidelines
Flite Test Community Association Safety Guidelines
Note: 14. First Person View (FPV) operation of recreational UA must be done safely and in compliance with Congressional law §44809(3).
Both Bennett Airfield and Willie McCool Flying Field are parks that Clark County or the city have designated as Remote Controlled Aircraft Facilities and operate under AMA guidelines. An AMA membership is required to operate at these AMA facilities and some of the facilities require you to purchase a flying field pass from the city Parks and Recreation Department. You are required to have your AMA membership card and your flying field pass in your position to show to any AMA or law enforcement official if asked for them.
