BVLOS

          The FAA’s BEYOND program is a continuation of the UAS IPP, a program originally created to test various

           types of drone operations that were prohibited by the FAA’s Part 107 rules. 

          The IPP officially ended on October 25, 2020 and the BEYOND program began the next day (October 26, 2020).



          1. Establish Acceptable Levels of Risk for BVLOS Operations

          2. Establish Clear Levels of Autonomy and Associated Human Responsibilities

          3. Special Licensing for BVLOS Operations

          4. Create a Certification Pathway for Drones to Be Certified for BVLOS Operations


BVLOS-OS - Beyond Visual Line-Of-Sight operations based on Obstruction Shielding

          The basic idea is that, after successful completion of a waiver application, you can fly BVLOS provided that you :

          1)  remain within 50 feet of an obstruction, such as, for example, a bridge or a set of high-tension powerlines. 

          2)  Operations are limited to Class G airspace 

          3)  under visual meteorological conditions, with a 

          4)  hard ceiling of 400 feet AGL

          5)  The remote pilot must also be equipped to receive Automatic Dependent Surveillance-Broadcast (ADS-B) signals from crewed aircraft operating in the vicinity.
